On Sunday, Jan. 6, the sanctuary of St. John the Baptist Armenian Church in Greenfield was filled with members and friends celebrating Armenian Christmas. The incarnation of Jesus Christ was observed with biblical readings and hymns appropriate for the day, and His baptism in the River Jordan was reenacted during the Blessing of the Water. This year, 11-year old Lev Vasilyev was godfather of the Blessing of the Water, and helped distribute the holy water to the faithful. Afterward, the community took part in the annual Armenian Christmas potluck dinner in the Culture Hall. Rev. Fr. Nareg Keutelian conducted a home blessing in the hall before the dinner commenced.
